Posted by the_prophet1987 on 03 February 2015 - 07:42 PM

I would definetly want to play the Battle of the Kursk but it was a massive battle with tanks minefields AT strongpoints and more.I don't know if you could recreate something as big as this in the game.Of course you can always make it more...........limited. ;)

#2028 Ground recon forces are opening with BRDM-2

Posted by nikolay on 09 August 2015 - 08:47 AM

Getting information about enemy disposition and strength is key element to determine combat approach and tactics. On the ground reconnaissance-in-force is your best bet to achieve better battlefield awareness. We have dedicated units to fulfill this role. Player and AI can use their superior detection range and high mobility to gain critical intelligence on both strategic and tactical level.
First in-game operational unit in this class is the BRDM-2 armored car.

Designed in the former Soviet Union in the 60s it saw widespread use in more than 30 counties with numerous modifications and upgrades. BRDM-2 has excellent cross-country mobility and amphibious capability. However, its thin steel welded armor offers limited protection only against small arms. GAZ-41 140hp gasoline engine is fuel hungry and susceptible to catch fire if hit. Armament consists of heavy 14.5mm KPVT machine gun and 7.62mm PKT coaxial general-purpose machine gun. BRDM-2 has crew of 4 and can carry 2 passengers.

#1894 Joke of the day

Posted by Darth Vader on 03 April 2015 - 09:48 AM

I have one political, about corruption:

President of western country invited the President of some eastern state and when they had a walk, he showed him his house and then one modern bridge, and said: ''Do you see that bridge? After we finished this bridge, there was 10% of material and resources left, so we built a house for a president from that leftover. Pretty efficient dont you think?''

Eastern President of impressed.

After some time, Eastern President invited Western President to come visit his country. When he arrived, eastern president showed him his house, which was a large palace with statues, pool, many rooms.Western president was impressed, then eastern president took him to some canyon, and said:

Eastern President: Do you see that bridge?

Western President: No

Eastern President: Exactly.

A Russian bomber flies over the English channel very close to Britain airspace with a nuclear missile that is specifically designed to hunt and kill Trident submarines. Putin is just getting too cocky now. It had to be escorted by Eurofighter Typhoons

#1625 Joke of the day

Posted by pkozukova on 30 January 2015 - 10:36 AM

Let`s have some laugh...

A blonde, a redhead, and a brunette were all lost in the desert. They found a lamp and rubbed it. A genie popped out and granted them each one wish. The redhead wished to be back home. Poof! She was back home. The brunette wished to be at home with her family. Poof! She was back home with her family. The blonde said, "Awwww, I wish my friends were here."

I,ve seen them in movies but if we ever get ready for battle UGVs they'll be nothing like what you saw in the movies.First of all i still don't know their "place" in battle,i mean they can't replace tanks.Too many open weak points and (if bipedal) risk of losing ballance and fall after a strong hit.I see them most likely to be some kind of support unit.

People might have thought that when we first used horses for war for example (unlikely) but everything new is going to get attention. It is the future so we are just going to have to get used to it

#1517 How you would build your air attack?

Posted by Zandatsu on 14 January 2015 - 01:25 PM

SEAD first to eliminate enemy radar AA, I'd keep a fighter patrol close to the SEAD planes, when ark ARM's have been fired move in the attack planes and have the same fighter patrol protect them against and kind of interception.

#1486 Minefields in strategy games

Posted by nikolay on 09 January 2015 - 05:12 PM

Engineers and minefields should be closely tied, no doubt about it.

I believe the relation between speed and lethality that Orm is referring to is bound to detection and further action when encounter minefield. For example: tank battalion hit minefield and 2 of its vehicles are out. Supposedly this unit has kind of organic engineer section which starts to do their jobs. Armor continues to move on, but with greatly reduced speed due to need to wait for engineers to clear secure paths. If you decide to ignore the danger and continue with full speed without leaving engineers to do defuse, than its sound logical that you will suffer more. At least this is how understood the statement.
