Dear fellow gamers,
We consider good game tutorial to be critical for player engagement. I was wondering how you usually approach game tutorials especially in the strategy games?
What is your time threshold for the duration of the tutorial steps/missions? For me in a moderately complex strategy game if I didn’t felt comfortable at least with the basic game flows and mechanics in the first 15 min, then the frustration starts to kick in, because of the long learning curve.
What you consider to be vital when you are learning how to play a game? Do you like initial instructions to be as detailed as possible or the preference is for going through the basic as quick as possible?
How often you decide to skip tutorial levels?
Should we all agree that tutorial should be dismissible at any point?
